Shaving
with Acne Prone Skin
Shaving
with ance prone skin and active blemishes can be very painful and difficult.
Rupturing blemishes can spread bacteria over your skin and create more
acne for you to deal with later. One alternative is to stop shaving completely,
but you might not like the idea of impersonating Teen
Wolf
until your acne clears up.
Use the
following techinques for the best results when shaving with acne prone
skin:
- Wash your
face - Guys are notorious for not wanting to bother with washing
their face. Why do you think you're struggling with acne in the first
place? No it's not totally caused by lack of washing, but a good cleansing
will do wonders for any ance prone complexion. For the best
results, use natural skin care products
that promote healing, rather than chemical based products that just
strip your skin dry.
Washing before you shave will also soften your skin and hair,
making it easier to cut closer to the skin. This will result in a
closer shave so you won't have to repeatedly pass over the same area
or shave as often.
-
Use
a disposable razor - You will probably rupture some blemishes
when shaving, so it's best to use a disposable razor that you can
throw away after each shave. Using a new razor each time you shave
will also ensure that the blade you're using is as sharp as possible.
-
Use
conditioner instead of shaving cream - Sulftate
free hair conditioner will soften your hair more than shaving
cream and give your razor more lubrication to glide evenly over
your skin. You'll also be able to see through the conditioner and
watch out for blemishes as you go.
-
Shave
clear areas first
- Try to shave over the patches of acne free skin first. This could
be the area above your lip and chin that you can carefully shave
before tackling the areas that have a lot of acne. Try to get as
close a shave you can without repeatedly passing over the
same area. This will enable you to go longer before having to shave
again.
-
Shave
around large blemishes - Don't pass over large blemishes. Not
only will this rupture the pustule, it will probably also hurt a
lot. If you do rupture a blemish, wash your hands and use toilet
paper to soak up the pus. Use more tissue between your fingers and
your skin to gently pop the blemish completely and get all
the pus out.
When
your finished shaving, rinse your face completely with lukewarm water
and pat dry with a towel. Then apply a layer of pure
aloe jelly over your face instead of burning aftershave.
Aloe
is extremely healing to the skin and will help soothe the burn and reduce
the redness from shaving quickly. Aloe will also help calm your acne prone
complexion, soothing your aggravated oil glands and healing the blemishes
already on the surface.
