Direct sales is a business building and product marketing method used by thousands of companies all across America.

Here's how this system works:

A company or individual creates a product. This could be anything from beauty products and cosmetics to jewelry to luggage.

The traditional format for marketing these products is to first find a distributor who then finds stores to carry the products. In this model, the price, branding, and ultimately the control over the product is given over to the distributors and stores that sell the product.

In direct sales, rather than sell products in stores through a distributor, the products are instead sold through Independent Consultants working with the company.

This is how direct sales also becomes a business building method because instead of just selling products, you now have the capacity to help others start successful business of their own!

One of the most popular products sold through direct sales is beauty products and cosmetics. These are the best products to sell in direct sales because:

  • More Affordable - Because the products are sold directly through Consultants, companies are bypassing the huge costs of distributors. This keeps the price much more affordable than most department store brands.
  • Consumable - Skin Care and cosmetic products are meant to be used every single day. When the customer gets low they reorder, thus establishing another income stream of continual reorders every 3-6 months.
  • Personal help is needed - Women like the idea of receiving personal help and attention with their skin. Not everyone can afford expensive spa treatments, but most women still want the same personal attention and guidance in picking the correct products for their skin.
  • Recession Proof - When times get hard, most people will cut back on expenses for extravagances like new jewelry, candles, or luggage. When selling beauty products through direct sales, most Consultants will organize shows or parties in order to reach the greatest number of people at one time.
