Why is This Lotion Not Curing My Dry Skin?
Check the label of the lotions you've been using. Do they contain:
If your lotion contains the above ingredients, you shouldn't be surprised that your skin is still dry. Mineral oil is the worst offender. When you apply this petrochemical by product you're essentially wrapping your skin in plastic wrap. Apart from being potentially carcinogenic, Mineral oil does absolutely nothing to cure dry skin. It sits on the surface, unable to penetrate and heal the dryness within your skin. Petroleum Jelly is just as bad as mineral oil. Your skin can't breathe and petroleum jelly provides absolutely no healing benefits to the skin. Your
skin is naturally waterproof, so water based products can't penetrate
your skin. Unless the lotion can actually get into your skin, it's never
going to have any effect on the dryness you're experiencing. You
need to find a more effective alternative. Most people only think of aloe when they get burned by a hot pan in the kitchen, or spend too much time outside in the sun. You might have had an aloe plant on hand this whole time, but never considered using its gel on your dry skin. It's
not surprising you never thought of it, but Aloe can be healing for
all skin problems: dry skin, acne prone skin, bruises, cuts, scraps,
and insect bits.
